My dog's surgical incision is opening and infected. What can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Bulldog | Female | spayed | 4 years and 9 months old | 65 lbs

Four days after surgical incision, it's coming open slightly on the end and I can tell my dog doesn't feel good and it's getting infected. Anything I can do for her til I get her to the vet on Monday?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You can try to cover it if going outside by putting a t-shirt on to avoid it getting dirty. Also, try to keep it as clean as possible and do not let Biscuit lick at it as that is going to make it worse. You could achieve that by putting an e-collar on. Good luck and have a good night!
