What causes dry bumps and bald spots on my cat's face and ear?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Male | neutered | 9 months and 12 days old | 12 lbs

My 9 month old Siamese male cat has a line of dry bumps going up his face and I noticed today there are now 3 more on the edge of his ear. There is a dry bald spot in front of the same ear now as well, that's what it started with. I don't know what it is!

It is common for kitties to have less hair in front of the ears. However, the bumps you describe may be a sign that Silas is scratching at the ear (due to an ear infection, allergies, or mites potentially). Or It could signal a skin infection for some other reason. I recommend taking Silas to your vet who can examine the inner and outer ear and help determine the cause and what treatment if any is needed.
