My cat is losing hair with a hard bump near her ear. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Snowshoe | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

I have a 6 year old snowshoe cat and just noticed that the area on her head right in front of her left ear appears to be losing hair. I picked her up and noticed a very small bump (approximately the size of an average pimple) that is mostly hard when touched. Touching it doesn't seem to cause her pain. At your best discretion without seeing the bump is this cause for concern? Or likely something as benign as a pimple? Thank you.

It is difficult to say for sure by just the picture but from your description it sounds like a benign cyst. I wouldn't be overly concerned about it, but I would have your vet take a glance at it at your earliest convenience just to ensure it is nothing to worry about. I hope this helps!
