Why is my kitten's surgically repaired eye yellow and inflamed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 7 months and 4 days old

My 7 month old kitten had a surgery for trauma (they had to sew her eye after something sharp penetrated it) she's mostly blind from that eye. That was 5 months ago and the eye healed properly but today I noticed that the eye looks yellowish and inflamed. I pulled the eyelid back and the little eye veins were all red and filled up. What could this be?

The eye is probably inflamed, possibly infected. you will have to take her to the vet in order to get the eye treated with prescription eye drops. it's very common for previously injured eyes to get re-infected and they often need to be treated occasionally.
