My dog has hard, non-painful bumps on her stomach. What are they?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 10 years and 4 months old | 22 lbs

My dog has three bumps on her stomach right next to each other (I thought it was a nipple) which does not seem to be painful or itchy. It does not feel like it could be filled with fluid as it feels hard, almost like a jellytot. She is 10, has a short coat and she is a mixed breed as she is a rescue and I am unsure of her breed. We keep our dogs in a big garden so maybe she could be having an allergic reaction to something but it has been two weeks since I noticed the bumps. What could these be?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! These could be benign or malignant growths. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and best wishes!
