This is a true emergency. If he ate rat poison he needs to be taken to your vet or local veterinary emergency clinic right now. I would take the package with the ingredients of the rat poison so the vet will know the best way to treat him. Left untreated, he could pass away. I’m sorry he did this and I hope he starts to feel better soon!

    Ideally you go immediately to your vet. This type of poison causes bleeding leading to death. It can take a couple days to see effects but I urge you NOT to wait that long. The vet may recommend blood testing for clotting factors or may just prescribe the antidote (vitamin k). If you are unable to go the vet, contact the Pet Poison Hotline and the toxin specialists there can help you calculate a dose if needed. (+1-855-764-7661) There is a $60 USD fee for this.
