My dog has watery brown poop and is straining. What should I do?

Hi Knut pooed ok this morning and again in the park.. now at home and seems restless and in and out the garden squeezing to poo but nothing except watery brown puddles .he seems to of settled now thought

Poor Knut! It sounds like he has an upset stomach. There are so many different things that can cause diarrhea. Diarrhea can cause them to have an increased urgency to poop so it makes it look like they are straining. I would withhold his food for 12 hours and then feed him a small amount of plain boiled chicken (no bones) and white rice to see if this settles his tummy. If he isn’t improving, refusing to eat, or you see blood at anytime in his poop, I would have our vet look at him. Your vet can do a fecal on him, blood work and even X-rays if needed. Your vet will be able to assess his hydration and give him fluids if needed. Your vet will also be able to start him on the proper meds to help him feel better quicker. I hope this helps!
