Hi my 11 week old puppy has been on meds for Giardia since Sunday. Today he is popping literally every 10-20 minutes since this morning and it has gotten smaller and softer through out the day. Is this normal while on the medication?

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. I would say that this is not a normal thing to expect but with Giardia, and any other intestinal parasite, you will typically see more frequent episodes of soft stool and diarrhea. Unless it is full blown liquid diarrhea, I would just monitor for now. If this worsens, I would have Charlie examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate recommendations can be made. I would also feed a bland diet of chicken and rice and consider adding a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns and I would be happy to help you further.
