My dog cut his lip. Does he need a vet if it's not bothering him?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Eskimo Dog | Male | neutered | 9 years old | 30 lbs

Brody tripped this morning on his walk. He got right back up and was fine but when we got home I noticed that he cut what looks like his lip (or right under). It doesn’t seem to bother him. I cleaned it with warm water and he didn’t flinch or whine when I did. He also appears to be eating and drinking normally. Should he still be seen by vet ? If not anything in particular I should do to keep it clean or help it heal? Anything to look out for? Thanks ! I’ve attached a picture of the injury.

It looks like a very minor wound, nothing that should cause him any problems, because of the location there is no point to put anything topical as he will lick it instantly, just monitor it for a few days until it heals completely on it's own.
