My dog's eye looks strange, but he's not in pain. Does he need a vet?

Should I take him in to have his eye looked at? He doesn't seem to be in pain and I'm not sure what's causing this. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 5 years and 2 months old | 70 lbs

Hi there! Thank you for posting this question. Yes, I think his eye should be seen. The motto I learned in vet school is “ a closed eye is a painful eye and a painful eye is an ocular emergency”. I would be worried that he could have scratched it, he could have a retrobulbar abscess, or even a disorder called Horners syndrome. They will stain the eye and look for any wounds.
