What can I give my constipated dog for relief before the vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 95 lbs

Hey, my dog has been having some constipation we are bringing him to the vet tomorrow is there anything that we can do to comfort him until then?

I would try giving him 1/2 tablespoon of canned 100% pumpkin for some added fiber. Also make sure he is drinking plenty of water. I would not give him any human pain meds as these are toxic to dogs. I hope this helps and the vet will be able to prescribe additional meds for constipation if needed.

    Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You can try offering a few tablespoons of plain canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) on top of his food a couple times daily. That can help with transient constipation. A 1/2 tablespoon of psyllium powder on the food can help as well. I hope this helps until you can take Fred into the vet tomorrow!
