My dog has a lip growth. What is it and can I help her at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | spayed | 9 years and 4 months old | 110 lbs

I have a 9 year old boxer that has some kind of growth from her lip. Can you tell what this is? I’m on disability and can’t afford to take her into a vet here in Louisville Ky. Is there anything I can do at home to help her?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Unfortunately there is no proven at home therapy for masses or tumor especially when it is not known what it is. You can consider contacting the humane society as often times they offer less costly veterinary care. This could be a benign or malignant growth. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and have a good day!
