My dog's spay incision looks odd after 3 days. Is it normal with glue?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 8.5 lbs

Hi, my dog got spayed three days ago. I don't believe it looks the same as it did from the day she got it done. Is this normal? There's no "hole" but I am a bit worried. Her incesions were closed with glue. What's normal to happen when glue is involved? The photos I took are from today.

The incision looks very good, there is nothing for you to worry about, the stitches are internal and this is why you cannot see any, it doesn't look like glue was involved but even if medical glue was used it will just dissolve in a matter of days.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The incision looks OK on the picture you posted. The wound can feel hard for a few days after the surgery. As long as the wound is not discharging, does not feel hot or painful to touch, there is nothing to worry about.
