My dog has a sudden red, watery, itchy eye. Is it an infection?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 7 years and 3 months old | 100 lbs

Hello, my 7 y.o. pit-bull overnight got his eye infected. He was just fine, but in the morning his right eye got a light sensitivity, watering and itchy. His left eye remains perfectly healthy. He didn't lose his appetite, he behaves rather normal than being sick. Also, I didn't see him injuring the eye either. Please advise!!! P.S. I tried to upload taken photos, but it didn't work for some reason

Munto could have gotten something in his eye causing the infection, such as a foreign body or bacteria. I would take him into a vet right away, as any eye infection should be considered an emergency. Leaving an eye infection untreated can lead to vision loss, so I would have him seen by a vet now to have the eye infection diagnosed and treated.

Do not let him scratch the eye, he could cause damage. He may have gotten dust into the eye or it could be the start of an eye infection. You should take him to the vet for an eye exam. If there is inflammation or infection the vet will test the eye for injury (with a chemical called flourescein) and then decide which eye medication is suitable for the eye. This is pretty urgent and you should take him to the vet tomorrow at the latest.
