I have a spayed 9 year old ragdoll/snowshoe cat and shes currently suffering through a UTI.She still uses her kitty box regularly and drinks and eats normally.I absolutely cannot afford to take her to a vet but was searching yahoo videos for at home/herbal type of remedies andcwas wanting to know if there is a cheaper solution than going to a vet?I am currently keeping her private area clean with lukewarm water and a very soft sponge and wiping this area very gently. Please respond ASAP.Lisa

I'm very sorry Cuddles has a UTI. Unfortunately, those herbal type remedies do not work on a UTI, and there are no home remedies for it either. I would be very careful about using remedies you find on the internet, as many may not be safe for her, and you could accidentally do harm to her. She does have to see a vet, as antibiotics are required to treat a UTI. If there was a home remedy for it, I would give it to you, but there is not one. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_pet.html?credit=web_id91754962 https://www.redrover.org https://www.carecredit.com Please take her into a vet as soon as possible.
