How to help a neighborhood cat with a paw injury at low cost?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | unneutered

A cat that has come around my house for a couple years now (he lives around the area, we live in a rural area with many farms) showed up today with a bad paw pad injury. Is there anything I can do for him? I don't want to spend a pile of money on him as he isn't our pet but would be willing to bring him inside until he is healed if need be. He's pretty tame and can be picked up.

If this cat has a bad paw injury, then he really needs to see a vet. The would is likely infected, and he will need antibiotics to treat the infection. If you don't want spend the money on him, then I would ask around to see who he belongs to, or bring him to the SPCA to be treated. He really needs to see a vet.
