Rabies vaccine is a must, and a distemper/ parvovirus combination is important too. Other vaccines such as Lyme, influenza. and bordetella depend on where you are in the country and what your dogs life style is. I would encourage you to schedule an appointment with your veterinarian and discuss which vaccines would be appropriate for your dog at this time. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It's best to consult with your veterinarian because they know best what diseases are prevalent in your area and will make the best recommendations. Most vets advise core vaccines which include distemper, hepatitis, parvo, and sometimes leptospirosis. Kennel cough vaccines are usually advised also. And finally, of course, rabies is required by law. Other vaccines include the canine flu vaccine, lyme vaccine, among others. Again, follow the advice of your local veterinarian to make sure that he gets protected depending on your geographic location. If he hasn't ever been vaccinated then your vet will recommend some booster shots after the first series. Good luck
