How to stop my cat from peeing on the couch after home changes?

I know my cat is affected by changes to the home, moving furniture and recently I changed the drapes in the living room. He always pees on the couch. I have a cover that is water proof and can be washed, but what can I do for him? I worry he licked hots spots on himself recently from having fleas,which he took a shot for supposed to last 12 weeks.
