My cat is scratching, has scabs, and a swollen lip. Is it allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 11 months old

I noticed that my cat has been scratching a lot more recently, but doesn't have any fleas (that I've seen.) His lip seem to be swollen and he's got scabs from scratching. I no idea what could be causing this. The only thing I can think of is maybe he got stung by a scorpion and we didn't notice or he is suddenly allergic to his food.

Hachi looks very itchy! I would have fleas, mites, environmental allergies and food allergies on my list of concerns. I would recommend that he be evaluated by a veterinarian. He may need antibiotics in addition to medication to help stop the itching. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
