Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Clear discharge in the eye such as tearing can be caused by irritation or allergies. If there has been trauma to the eye this can also cause tearing. Many times this irritation is only temporary and will resolve on its own. If the tearing is persistent and does not resolve or worsens then I would consider having a veterinarian take a look at the eye in order to help determine what the cause could be. Further testing can be done to verify if there has been any trauma to the surface of the eye. A veterinarian can stain the eye to check for evidence of trauma to the surface and examine the eye more closely to determine if there is any other possible cause. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other concerns.
