My German Shepherd's epilepsy meds aren't working. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 4 months old | 53 lbs

I have a German Shepherd who is 3 yrs 5 months old.. He used to suffer from seizures(weekly atleast one seizure) hence we started giving him potassium bromide 500mg tablet..half in the morning and half at night keeping the gap of 12 hrs.. 2 months he had no seizures but in past three days he had two.. Doctors here arent of much help.. From India

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Based on his age and the time of onset, idiopathic epilepsy would be most likely though inflammatory disease or cancer cannot be completely ruled out. I recommend that you have Oscar evaluated by a veterinarian as other medications for seizures could be prescribed such as phenobarbital. I think that if he has another seizure at home in this same month it would be good to evaluate him so that this other medication can be added for better seizure control. Good luck!
