My dog keeps vomiting after eating. Should I go to an emergency vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My 6 month lab began vomiting Thursday night. I have giving a nausea meds previously prescribed by her vet. She is acting more like herself this morning (Saturday) but continues to vomit as soon as she eats. Her vet is closed until Monday, any suggestions?

Hi there. I would recommend taking your dog to an emergency clinic for an X-ray. Vomiting that occurs more than 1-2 times can be caused by infection or by something obstructing the gastrointestinal tract. Either way if your dog is vomiting right after eating she needs to be examined before Monday so she doesn’t get worse. Best wishes to you and your dog. Thanks for using Pet Coach.
