Hello, would you suspect a brain tumor for a 10 year old dog that had 3 grand mal seizures in 30 days interval in between, with no other symptoms and with normal results in laboratory tests? Thank you

I am sorry that your dog is having seizures. It is very unsettling to see that. A brain tumor is a possibility. Unfortunately- the only way to rule it out is to do advanced imaging such as a CT or an MRI. My personal dog does have a brain tumor and her ONLY sign was a seizure. There are other possibilities such as epilepsy- normally they are younger, but my dog’s neurologist said it has been seen. I would recommend trying to find a veterinary neurologist and getting their opinion. If that isn’t possible- your regular veterinarian can discuss starting Assia on an anticonvulsant to reduce her seizures. Thanks for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
