My cat's paw is swollen and cut, causing discomfort. Vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered

A few hours ago my cat caught his paw under a door he cut the pad slightly and it was bleeding for around two minutes, but it's slightly swollen on top, he is putting weight in it but trys not to, the only time he is showing discomfort is when I touch the top of his paw should I get it checked out?

It is difficult to tell from the picture. Since the bleeding stopped and he seems to be resting you can choose to monitor him. Keep him indoors so that the wound does not get dirty if by tomorrow there is a vast improvement then you might need to just rest him and make sure paw is clean for at least a week. If not much better, have him checked by your vet.
