My 4-year-old cat's eyes are now speckled brown. Is this normal?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 years and 9 months old

Good Day We have a 4 Year Old female cat. Recently both her eyes changed colour. The bottom half of the eyes now have a speckled brown colour as opposed to her eyes being one colour as before. Please advise as to what this could possibly be. I am trying to get an appointment with the Vet at the moment.....

Hi there and thanks for posting! Color changes to the iris (the colored part of the eye) can happen as cats age. I would not worry about the color change to brown unless the color starts looking red or swollen or irritated. If the eyes looks normal otherwise, then I wouldn't worry too much. I would still have your vet take a look at the eye during her vet visit just to be sure. I hope this helps and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
