Why is my betta fish inactive, not eating, and losing color?

Hello,I have a betta which used to be very active and responsive but since almost 3 weeks it is very inactive.It stays at bottom or top.Do not eat much.The color has also faded.Please help

Check the water temperature. Low temps can affect appetite and activity in fish. Bettas thrive between 78 F (25.5C) and 80 F (26.6C). A heater is required in most tanks. Test the water also. Use a home test kit or submit a sample for testing. Most pet or fish stores will do this for free or for a nominal fee. High ammonia or nitrite levels can cause stress or illness. Partial water changes should be done regularly to maintain water quality if a filter is not used. Aged or conditioned water should be used instead of plain tap water. It should be temperature matched as well to prevent stress or shock.
