My cat threw up 3 times after eating, but still eating normally. Vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 years and 2 months old | 40 lbs

My cat has thrown up 3 times today all after eating but he is still eating normally and acting normal. His food hasn't been changed. He eats a half a can of wet food in the morning and dry food at night. Should I take him to the clinic?

If he continues to vomit then tomorrow he should be seen by a veterinarian. Intestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, or even just gastritis could be the potential problem. They may recommend an x-ray and possibly lab work . Best of luck and I hope he improves soon.

I'm sorry Harley is sick! It could be he has a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, or could have a foreign body. Given he has only thrown up three times and is otherwise acting normal, I can give you a home remedy to try before taking him into the vet. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
