My dog's eyes are red, sensitive to light, and he's squinting. What's wrong?

Nathan can not keep his eyes open & they are red. Seems like they are sensitive to light. He swats my hand away when I was wiping the left eye today. This started this morning.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. After reviewing the photos and reading your description I would recommend having the right I examined by a veterinarian to ensure that there is no damage to the surface of the eye. I would recommend having the surface of the eye stained and checked for any trauma. If there is trauma this will need to be treated with an antibiotic eye drop which is a prescription from your veterinarian. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other concerns. The sooner this is seen the better as trauma to the I can progress to a more severe condition and animals can potentially lose their eye from such trauma if left untreated.
