Cats who go outdoors tend to get into fights. Bite wounds often cause abscesses. I suspected the bump is likely an abscess. We typically lance and drain them and then put them on antibiotics. An appointment with your veterinarian tomorrow would be a good idea. Good luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

I am sorry to hear about Reggie. A photo of the area may help us identify a cause. I worry in outside cats especially about an abscess (or pocket of infection) as a result of a bite wound or other injury. We can see swellings on the face as a result of tooth root infections as well. In older cats we can also have tumors arise on the face. An examination by a veterinarian would be recommended to determine the cause and appropriate treatment for your kitty.

This is a very sweet looking cat. There may be a swelling on the right side of the head which could be caused by a cat bite abscess or other wound. I suggest you take Simba to a veterinarian for an exam. If it is an abscess, Simba will need antibiotics to curb the infection.
