My dog won't eat his food but wants human food. Is he bored?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Male | neutered | 1 year and 3 months old

My dog has been always eagerly eating his dry food - Sympson Sensitive with lamb and potatoes. However yesterday starting from the morning he started to refuse it. He seems to be feeling absolutely fine, is as playful and active as always. He also looks very interested in the food that we are eating. Is it possible that he just grew bored of his food? Because he definately has an appetite when it comes to other food.

It is possible that he doesn't like his food for some reason, especially since he seems to want to eat other food. You could try a different food but switching foods abruptly can cause vomiting and diarrhea in some dogs so it would be a good idea to mix the foods together and gradually switch to a different brand. If his appetite continues to be decreased then he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause.
