My cat stopped eating wet food but eats dry. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 10 lbs

My cat completely stopped eating wet food. She went from eating a whole can, to half a can, to only eating the gravy, to not touching it at all. She eats plenty of dry food which I have available for her all throughout the day. I’ve tried offering different types of wet food from the priciest to the cheapest but she’s picky and doesn’t like any of them by far. I’m thinking about buying her a fountain but still want her to eat wet food. What should I do?

Hello, sorry to hear about Sass. Some cats unfortunately prefer to eat the dry food over wet food and vice versa. A few things you can try is to mix the wet and dry food together. You can also wet down her dry food to increase the amount of water consumed. Ultimately, there is nothing wrong with eating dry food alone but ideally they should eat both. Hope this helps and best of luck.
