What's this pink bump on my dog's lip that isn't bothering her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 13 lbs

I noticed this circular pink patch on Kimmy lip this morning. It doesnt seem to be annoying her. She is a bichon cross maltese/shih tzu and is 1 year and 10 months.

HI, thanks for using Petcoach! A lot of skin bumps can look the same. From your pictures the pink area looks slightly raised? It could be an abrasion from hitting it or rubbing it on something or it could be a benign growth called a histiocytoma. Histiocytomas are pink hairless button like skin growths that pop up on young dogs. They tend to spontaneously regress on their own in a few months. If the area grows, starts to bother Kimmy or doesn't go away in a few months have it evaluated by your Vet. I hope this helps and I wish you and Kimmy the best! http://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/skin/c_dg_histiocytoma
