6-week kitten sleepy, limping, not eating after vaccine. Vet now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hello. We have a male kitten about 6 weeks old who's is very sleepy, limping and is barely eating. He got vaccinated about a week ago and has been sleeping most of the time for a few days now. We also have another female kitten who is very playful and she has played with him aggressively for the past 2 weeks. Our concern is that he got hurt in their plays or by the vaccination. Is this a normal reaction to the vaccination? Should we take him to the vet immediately or can it for the morning?

Hi. The symptoms that your kitten is showing are certainly concerning. It could be an injury or a delayed vaccine reaction although those are very rare. It could also be that he got an infection from the other kittens playing with him and now he is acting that way because he has a fever from the infection. Because of what's going on with him I would recommend getting him to a vet as soon as possible. Kittens are pretty sensitive because of their age and they can get bad very quickly so the sooner you go in the better.
