My dog's penis is out and red, but he's not in pain. What is it?

The tip of my dogs penis is out in a ball and very ref.. He has had this happened before but doesn't seem in pain and usually goes away by its self.. Just kinda curious what it is? He seems normal and not in pain no smell.. But its happened about three time now and he is a little over a year old. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 98 lbs

Sometimes an unneutered male will get a little excited due to hormones and the penis will protrude and swell a little and also be noticeably red. As long as it eventually goes back in it is nothing to worry about.
