My canary is molting for 9 weeks. Is his quiet chirping a good sign?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | unneutered

My Canary, Ringo, started his Molt close to Aug. 1. He is now starting his 9th. week. The past week, he is still molting, but, has started to Chirp, a bit quietly, some times. No Singing. With the Chirping, does this mean he is coming to the end of his Molt? Shouldn't he be finished around now? = 6 - 8 weeks?

A typical molt will last about 6-8 weeks. Some can be shorter or longer depending on the bird, environment, diet, etc. The fact that Ringo is beginning to sing again is a good indication that he is finishing his molt.
