Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 5 years and 8 months old | 65 lbs
My dog was in a minor fight the other day and is now not wanting to walk on one of his paws. We have already had issues with him licking because of yeast but I'm afraid he might have split between his toe.i caught him licking and tried to dry the area out and noticed it is pussing. I've put a sock on but am wondering if I should clean it with hydrogen peroxide and maybe corozone or neosporin?

Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! If there is pus present, I would recommend that this be examined by a veterinarian to determine how severe it is. A course of oral antibiotics would most likely be best if it is secondarily infected. If you are unable to get to your veterinarian right away, you can use a diluted solution of betadine and saline (mix until a light brown color) to clean the area and zymox topical ointment to help fight the infection. This may not be enough to treat the infection, so I would still recommend an exam by a vet to determine if oral antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory is needed. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I am also available via consultation if needed.
