What helps my cat's irritated skin from recurring seasonal allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 7 years and 11 months old | 10 lbs

Hello, my cats have allergies. Their skin is all irritated and rough looking. I've had them in a vet about this time last year for the allergies as well. I've tried to follow the food regimen recommended, but now nothing is working. What can I do for my cat's skin rashes? (there are no fleas or ticks etc). It's occurring about this time every year.

Seasonal allergies may be treated with antihistamines such as chlorpheneramine. Discuss a safe dose with your veterinarian. An e-collar can be used to prevent trauma from excessive itching or licking. Consider a fish oil supplement such as DermCaps or EicosaCaps. Either can be purchased from your vet, may promote healthy skin and coat and may naturally decrease any inflammation or itching.

Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach. I would recommend by starting with supplementation to see if this helps as well as preventative flea and tick medication. I would recommend starting Welactin fish oil for cats, Essential 6 spot on by dermoscent and bathing with Duoxo PS calm shampoo. If this does not help, I would consider having them examined by a veterinarian to discuss prescription options for reducing allergies. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I am also available via consultation if needed.
