My dog ate chicken bones and is bloated. Should I go to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 6 months old | 4 lbs

My dog might have consumed chicken bones but isn't acting out of the ordinary other than a bloated stomach. Where I live it is very late and the closets vet is 30min away, what can I do?

At the moment just monitor Mocha, things you need to be looking at are mainly vomiting, lethargy and diarrhea. if he starts showing any of those symptoms in an acute manner, you will need to take him to the vet urgently, otherwise continue monitoring him and if the stomach is still bloated by Monday morning- take him to your vet to get it checked.
