My puppy is teething and in pain. Can I give him Tylenol or Orajel?

Guido is teething a lot the last week or more. Losing back teeth and you can tell it hurts. Can you give a dog Tylenol for pain? I have children's liquid form at home. Or what about oragel for babies? I have been giving him ice cubes to chew on. He eats those.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! In my experience teething in dogs is not painful. Chewing on things is normal puppy behavior that they grow out of. If Guido is acting painful in his mouth then it is unlikely from teething. We do not recommend human pain medications for dogs and cats. They do not metabolize the drugs like we do and cause gastrointestinal upset and/or ulceration and can cause kidney and liver problems. We have safer pain medications that are approved for dogs. I recommend contacting your Vet if you truly believe he has oral pain since it is not typical for normal teething. I hope this helps and good luck!
