Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed
I've got a Gloster Canary who has started wheezing and making small coughs. She's still extremely active, singing, flying and eating, and doesn't seem to have diarrhea or weeping eyes or any other kind of symptom, apart from wiping her beak and opening her mouth. I noticed her cough a week ago, then she seemed to stop so I kept an eye on her. I don't have a bird vet anywhere nearby to take her to. She gets washed broccoli, grated carrot or grass every day, as well as mixed seed and fresh water

The symptoms may be respiratory infection or possibly air sac mites. An exam with your veterinarian would be recommended as respiratory infection may require antibiotics. Clean and sanitize the cage, bowls, perches and toys. Discard anything that cannot be sanitized. Clean or change the cage paper daily. If it is mites, you can use an OTC mite spray commonly found in the Bird section of most pet stores. Read the label carefully as some are not to be used directly on the bird.
