Hi, I will be getting a new puppy who will be 8 weeks old when I pick her up. She will have gotten her Distemper, adenovirus type 1 &2, parafluenza shot, parvovirus and coronavirus shots from the breeder/breeders vet. What does she need after that besides rabies shots and when?

She will need to have the Distemper/parvo combination vaccine every 3-4 weeks until she is 15 weeks of age. She will need a Rabies vaccine between 12-16 weeks of age. If she is going to board at a kennel, attend puppy classes, go to dog parks, etc. then she may need a kennel cough vaccine and an influenza vaccine. She might also need a leptospirosis vaccine depending on her risk of being exposed as well as a Lyme vaccine. The best thing would be to talk to your vet about which vaccines are necessary for her depending on your location and lifestyle of your dog.

Distemper/adenovirus/parvovirus combo starting at 6-8 weeks, then booster every 4 weeks until she is 16 weeks old. At 12 weeks or older she can have her Rabies vaccination. These are the core vaccines.

Thank you for posting this question and congratulations on the puppy! Puppies need their vaccinations every 3-4 weeks until they are at least 16 weeks old. They typically get rabies vaccine between 12-16 weeks of age. What specific vaccinations they need can vary somewhat based on location and life style but typically they need the distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, hepatitis, and parainfluenza combination. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

Some vaccines are depend upon your region. The core vaccines are started at 6 weeks and given every 3 weeks after until 16 weeks of age. This include distemper/parvo/adeno virus combination. A rabies is administered between 12-14 weeks depending on your laws. The rest are bordetella at 8 weeks and lyme or lepto if indicated.
