My dog has diarrhea but is acting normal. Should I feed or fast him?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Great Pyrenees | 2 years and 1 month old

Came home from work today and my dog had a big pile of liquid poop on the floor. He is otherwise eating and drinking and acting normal. Should I feed him supper or should I fast him for a day or so??

I typically recommend skipping 1 meal, then feeding a bland diet such as boiled chicken and rice for a few days. If the diarrhea doesn't improve, if it becomes bloody, if Titan begins vomiting or otherwise acting sick then seek veterinary care quickly. Hope this is helpful!
