My dog is coughing very badly and it sounds like he is snorting, I just took him to the shelter today to pick something up so I suspect it is kennel cough. I gave him Benedryl not too long ago because he has allergies, ,can I give him robitussin to help his coughing?

You can give Robitussin for the cough (1 tea spoon per 20 lb), although it's not always enough for kennel cough. Cough can be caused by an infection, heart problem or lung condition, it is important to first know the cause before treating it as treatment is different from condition to another. The most common disease causing cough is a viral infection called Kennel cough as you mentioned, this disease usually resolves without treatment within a couple weeks but if the cough is too severe it is recommended to go to the vet in order to get cough medicine and antibiotics.
