My chihuahua has had loose stool for 3 days. She threw up her food yesterday and today. I don't know what is wrong.

Poor Alaina! She could have an infection, parasite, upset stomach from something she ate, pancreatitis, etc. If she is otherwise acting normal, then you could withhold food for the day and see if the vomiting and diarrhea resolves. If so, then feed a small amount of a bland diet, boiled chicken and white rice, this afternoon and see how she does. Continue feeding the bland diet for a few days and then slowly transition back to her old food. If the vomiting/diarrhea continues then she needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. Your vet can run lab-work to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to treat. Hope she feels better soon.

Diarrhea and throwing up can be caused by a food sensitivity, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, an intestinal blockage, bacterial infection, viral infection, the weather, food change, stress, etc. I would fast Tia for 24 hours and then put the dog on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the diarrhea or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog gets lethargic, sheneeds to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.

If she isn't throwing up a lot, you can try a home remedy first before having to take her into the vet. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.
