Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 4 months old | 50 lbs
My dog boxer 7 years old. Suddenly starts bleeding a lot from his penis. During 2 weeks it has happen 3-4 times. Doesn't look like it is painful. Steel eat well, play. Nothing visually changed. In hospital blood and urine test was done. Prostate in normal size and not painful. They didn't give any suggestion except more tests. Looks like they want more money. What can it be and what a solution can be?

Hello and thank you for your question on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The bleeding from the penis may be caused by a issue with his penis (such as trauma, ora perpetual infection), urinary tract ( bladder infection, stone), or prostate (inflammation of the prostate, prostate cancer, or enlargement of the prostate). An issue with the prostate is far and away the most common cause of blood dripping from the penis that is typically not painful. If all tests have come back negative, an ultrasound of the prostate would be the next step in order to confirm a prostate issue. Neutering will resolve the problem if it is prostatic. I hope this has helped and I hope Duke has a swift recovery!

I am not sure what you have done so far but I would recommend a urine analysis. This will check for crystals, bacteria, the ph of urine and concentration. Also a good rectal exam to check his prostate and x-rays to look at his prostate and bladder. I would be concerned about a proatate issue. Rocky really needs to be neutered if he has not already. If a patient has a prostate issue it will not resolve without neutering him. I would be concerned about prostate, urinary tract infection that's resistant to antibiotics, bladder stones, crystals in urine or even a kidney issue. Really testing and neuter should give you a reason this is happening and better guide the treatment

I'd would speak to your vet about doing blood tests, a urinalysis, a semen analysis, an ultrasound of his prostate, and possibly x-rays of his bladder. Because antibiotics haven't worked for Rocky and he's still bleeding from his penis, further tests are needed to diagnose the cause. The vet may also want to take a biopsy of his prostate. I'd make an appointment with his vet to discuss further testing. Best of luck.
