My dog has a red, licky spot between her toes. What else can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 7 months and 28 days old | 17 lbs

Recently i saw this boil in between my pup's fingers. The area is red but she doesn't seem to be in pain. She just licks it. On the advice of my vet I'm applying Kiskin ointment on the spot. It's there anything more i can do??

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Jessi is licking it, I would think it is bothering her. I would see if your Vet can prescribe an antibiotic and something to relieve the licking. Use an E-collar to prevent her from licking it. You can try soaking her foot in Epsom salt two times a day. Possibilities are an infection or a follicular cyst (hair follicle). Sometimes if can take some time for these to go away. I hope this helps! Good luck!
