Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Dog's in heat will have a bloody discharge from the vulva for approximately 1 week. Some dogs this is shorter and some it is longer. She will then have the discharge change to clear, and it is at this time she is likely to get pregnant. Be sure to keep her away from males. About 1-2 month after her heat ends she is in the risk period for a disease called 'pyometra' which is a pus filled uterus, it is important to monitor her at this stage and any vomiting, inappetance, or any discharge from her back end is an emergency and needs to be seen by a vet right away. Her uterus after this time period, in about 3 months, will go back to normal. It is at this point you will want to be getting her spayed. Otherwise, during her heat, just leave her alone, and make sure she isn't allowed near any un-neutered male dogs, or off leash in any parks. Also, she can become a bit more aggressive and try to escape the yard to find a male, so she is at an increased risk of being hit by a car. Make sure your enclosure is safe. I hope this answers your questions. Best of luck with Soska.
