My dog has skin bumps, but they don't bother him. When to see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Male | neutered | 2 years and 4 months old | 23 lbs

Gizmo had developed tiny, acne-ish bumps near his groin. We don't know where they came from but Teddy has had them before and they went away within a couple days. They aren't bothering him at all. Should he get them checked out?

The pictures show a small pustule on the skin. Many times these little spots will resolve on their own, but if it hasn't gotten better in 2 or 3 days since you noticed it, I would recommend a checkup with a vet. Often they need oral antibiotics to clear the infection. You can try an anti-microbial scrub or shampoo, like Dechra MalAcetic Ultra Shampoo or a first-aid chlorhexidine soap.
