My active parakeet won't eat, only likes certain foods. What's wrong?

My pet bird Tom refuses to eat most of the time. He is playful and active. He keeps jumping all over and gets tired but doesn't eat at all. This happens at rate occasions where he is very playful. His favorites include guava and raw rice. He doesn't eat anything else. Why does this happen? Why does he show such behavior? He is a 5-6 month old male Indian ring necked parakeet. Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | 1.2 lbs

Some time birds will eat only the food they really like. It is like when we eat pizza over salad because it taste better. I would recommend taking away the high fat food he loves and try to offer him more well rounded diet. I would monitor his weight closely to make sure he is not losing weight. If he still won't eat/acting sick or having weight loss I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian for a good exam and different attempts. Hope that helps
