My dog ate onion from the trash. What are the symptoms to watch for?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 7 months old | 8 lbs

Chico just ate a onion im not 100% sure if he did or not but there wad onion on the floor and he was in the trash!

Hi and thanks for your question. I would watch him for the next 72 hours and take him into see a veterinarian if he exhibits lethargy, decreased or no appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, pale gums, excessive panting. Onions can be toxic to dogs as can eating from the garbage! Onions cause hemolytic anemia and getting into the garbage and eating scraps of food he shouldn't have can cause pancreatitis. Be sure to be on the lookout for the above symptoms and take him in should he exhibit any.
